Liebherr Container Crane announced the successful completion of a major upgrade project at New York Free Port (formerly a global container terminal).
This project includes lifting three out of four Liebherr shore container cranes (STS) by increasing the lifting height and extending the boom tip, and the work of the fourth crane will be completed soon.
The entire process was captured by the camera, and these eye-catching shots can now be seen on Liebherr Maritime's social media platform.
Liebherr's skilled engineering team increased the lifting height of the STS crane by 8.6 meters and extended the extension distance by 5 meters. These substantial improvements enable cranes to effectively handle larger vessels and enhance the service capabilities provided by the free port to customers.

Using Liebherr's innovative jack system, elevator height expansion was quickly completed within a few weeks. This patented system utilizes the end frame of a crane as a stable foundation for lifting, eliminating the need for additional equipment and ensuring minimal interference with terminal operations.
According to a statement, Liebherr Transformation is a specialized service dedicated to upgrading and enhancing cranes to make them more sturdy, efficient, and environmentally friendly. Through cutting-edge technology, Liebherr Transform provides support to global ports and terminals to improve productivity, reduce equipment downtime, and achieve faster operational turnover.
